Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a treatment approach empirically validated and so well researched that it is now recommended as an effective treatment for trauma in the Practice Guidelines of the American Psychiatric Association, and those of the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
The positive therapeutic outcomes are rapidly achieved without homework or detailed descriptions of the disturbing event. EMDR therapy can offer you and your clients an efficient treatment option with a wide range of applications.
EMDR therapy was initially developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in the late 1980’s to help treat people with traumatic memories. It is now used to treat a variety of disorders including PTSD, phobias, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain.
EMDR training provides clinicians with the understanding and skills to utilize EMDR therapy, a comprehensive understanding of case conceptualization and treatment planning, and the ability to integrate EMDR therapy into their clinical practice.
This course is approved for 30 continuing education credits for social workers, psychologists, counselors, addiction specialists and marriage and family therapists.
Credit requirements and approvals vary per state board regulations. Please contact your licensing board to determine if they accept programs or providers approved by other national or state licensing boards.
A certificate of attendance will be awarded at the end of the program to participants who are in full attendance and who complete the program evaluation.
Become an EMDR trained clinician and integrate EMDR successfully into your practice by completing Megan’s training program.
